Federal Rally in San Francisco a Success!

Over 50 Medical Marijuana patients, and their supporters protested in front of the Federal Building/District Court in the Civic Center in San Francisco at a noon rally on Monday, September 12, 2005.

Colorful signs promoting Due Process for patients and loud chants challenging D.E.A. jurisdiction attracted horn-honking supporters driving by the spirited crowd.

The protestors then walked or rolled in their wheelchairs five blocks to the Federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals at 7th and Mission with their signs and lively chants:  “Uphold our law, Prop. 215!”  and “Safe Access is the Law!”

The police collaborated with the peaceful but loud protestors by escorting them across some of the intersections.

In front of the Ninth Circuit, the protestors chanted with full voices for Due Process, especially for those many patients, who have filed motions, challenging the jurisdiction of the D.E.A.

The protestors hoped to reach the ears of government prosecutors, who have failed to respond to the issue, and of judges, who have failed to rule on the issue presented in our Courts at the District level and the Appellate level.

At present there are over 60 California patients and caregivers facing Federal prison.

The protestors peacefully disbanded about 1:30 pm., vowing to keep up the pressure on the Courts for Due Process.

Thanks to all the efforts put into organizing this rally and showing up, especially to the staff and volunteers at Americans for Safe Access (ASA)-Sonoma County, ASA-SF, and you valiant independent volunteers and patients and supporters of our rights!

Without jurisdiction, armed agents of the DEA continue to arrest patients under color of law.

Without jurisdiction, judges continue to sentence patients to prison under color of law.  At least one patient, convicted under color of law, has died in prison.

Shouldn’t We the People hold our government servants accountable for crimes and criminal activities perpetrated under color of law.  If We the People remain silent, are We not then effectively conspiring with the government to violate rights under color of law?
